Luckily this scam is just as obvious as the Dave and Angela Dawes Lottery Donation Scam, because as the article states: Allen and Violet Large won their fortune in July and decided to donate 98% of it, saving the rest - around £130,000 - for a rainy day.
This was in July 2010, so if they already gave 98% of their winnings away and only have £130,000 left (which is roughly $206,505), where will they find the $500,000 to give to you?
The article also states that they gave the money to churches, fire departments, cemeteries, the Red Cross and hospitals, so where does random individuals fit onto this picture.
You see, you don't even have to look for clues of a scam here, just use your common sense and you will easily see that this is a load of hogwash.
This scam has several similarities to the Dave and Angela Dawes Lottery Donation Scam:
- The donation is presented to 5 lucky individuals all around the world
- They reference a news article in an attempt to substantiate their story
- Your e-mail address was supposedly submitted by the Google Management Team (Yeah right!)
Another variant of this scam contains the e-mail address allenlarge@yahoo.cn and the ends with a ridiculous statement like this:be alerting the Anti-fraud Unit and IC3.
Kind Regards,
Mr/Mrs. Allen Violet Large.
