Are they accepting responsibility for this phishing mail or is this just a joke? Heck, who is going to take this e-mail serious with an From address like this?

Yeah, this e-mail was intended for Customer, just about every client of Orchard Bank. Remember no bank will send impersonal e-mails like this to their clients.

We maintain strict security standards and procedures to prevent unauthorized access to information about you. Capital One Bank (USA), N.A. and Capital One, N.A. will never contact you by email or otherwise to ask you to validate personal information such as your Login ID, password or account numbers

The phishing scammers got more clever over time and now they send e-mails like this to their victims. They are not requesting you to validate personal information, nor are they saying your account got suspended, no they send you something you won't expect to be a scam, like your latest credit card statement.

The links are cleverly disguised by adding real Orchard Bank links in the title attribute, so that when you hover your mouse over the link, you think it will take you to the actual Orchard Bank site, but always pay attention to the URL displayed in your browser or e-mail client's status bar and not the pop-up tooltip. Last week we published a Bank of America phishing scam example where the phishing scammers also applied this deceiving technique.
